This tartan is very famous -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Watch
  • Brand: Betty Jackson knee-length skirt.  It reminds me of a tafetta fabric, tons of folds in the skirt too, so it has a lovely drape.

    Size UK16/US18

Computing:

  • I also have a 6-month-old NAVY BLUE ACER NETBOOK I'm looking to get rid of - comes with warranty and all the paperwork/leather cover/charger/fresh install etc. Linux version.  Paid E260 thinking of asking E170 + shipping?  Any takers?  Will post photos if anyone's interested.

Guys, I seriously want this stuff out of the house - just say what you want and we'll work it out from there.  If you know of anyone wanting these things too, point them this way.  Time for a clean-out.

26th-May-2009 11:35 pm - Boots with the furrrrrrr

The view from the train wasn't as romantic as the last post, sorry :(  Pretty dreary countryside too.  The black dots on the lower half of the pic belong to the plastic uh, frame thing they have on the rail car windows.  Yeah.

So, yes.  I am back from Dublin.  Better trip than last time - nicer hotel too.  The type of hotel that's got high notions about itself, but has no tea/coffee-making facilities in the room and CHARGES you for their wifi.  Odd.

Breakfast was damn well interesting too!  In an effort to be 'continental' [never a good sign in a hotel], I was served a 'cold meat platter' when by right I should have been sitting down to rashers, sausages and eggs and a heartattack.

Check out that plate on the left - that's ham, chorizo, salami and a branch of forrest :P  It was interesting though, having those meats for breakfast - very German or continental, so I guess the hotel is spot-on.  If you peer into the reflections on the coffee pot hard enough, you can probably make out me in my pink undies taking the pic with my phone :P

The view from the hotel room was... uninspiring too.  No breathtaking sunrises this time :(

Yeah.

Oh!  And Heuston Train Station in Dublin is such a bag of cats :D  As in, it tries to be all modern and airy and NEW and CURRENT and SNAZZY...

...but if you take a left and head off the platforms to buy a ticket...

...instant history and architecture, oh my!

And then after three hours on a train and one too many Galaxy bars, the familiar sights of home greeted me.  Then I looked at the receipts I had for the trip and discovered this one:

Yes, the cafe was called 'The Galway Hooker'.  Yes, I have to submit that to HR.  Yes, a G&T and a cappuchino costs €8.60 in this country.  I know.

25th-May-2009 10:57 am - Is it the train moving or the world?

 - Taken with my camera phone on the last Dublin trip, about a month ago...

So.  Later today I'm catching the train to Dublin for a work event tomorrow.  Last month was the first time they've held such events, so now I know what to expect, etc.  It shouldn't be too bad actually; it's quite cool meeting everybody from all the other offices around the country.  We sit around, discuss things, get lunch, discuss things further.  I think everybody expects me to hate it a lot more than I actually do - in fact I don't hate it at all, quite enjoy the travelling.  At least it doesn't result in feelings such as this:

Heh.  So it'll be grand.  The last time I was up there, I woke up stupidly early around 6-ish and managed to get these lovely shots from my hotel room:

Mountains and sea, how lovely :)  I hope I can get some nice shots on this trip.  I'm only gone overnight, so I'll be back soon :D  Brought lots of PDFs with me to read on the train!

23rd-May-2009 11:33 pm - Beepbeep

So.  I've been driving lately.  And the above kitty's reaction isn't all that different from how I drive.  Except, you know, it's rather hard to be so badass when behind the wheel of a Nissan Micra :)

About a month ago I headed to a local beach called Stradbally - one of those little Irish costal towns that nobody even knows exists until you drive past it, look back and go HOLY SHIT THERE WAS A COVE AND A BEACH AND A RIVER AND CLIFFS BACK THERE!

Stradbally is seriously beautiful.  I took pics, which are beneath the LJ cut :)  It's kinda awesome having this semester of college over and done with - heck that's my first year done!  Mini achievement, woo!

Oh, and the ocean was there too... :)
